Apple iOS and macOS Out-of-Bounds Write Vulnerability (CVE-2022-32893)
Apple iOS and macOS contain an out-of-bounds write vulnerability that could allow for remote code execution when processing malicious crafted web content.
A remote attacker, without authentication, can achieve full data confidentiality loss, arbitrary modification of data, complete denial of service or system unavailability. Federal agencies are required to remediate by 2022-09-08 under CISA BOD 22-01.
This is a Out-of-bounds Write (CWE-787) vulnerability in Apple iOS and macOS. An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 15.6.1 and iPadOS 15.6.1, macOS Monterey 12.5.1, Safari 15.6.1. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited. Exploitation requires remote network access, low attack complexity, no authentication required, and user interaction required.
