Google Chromium V8 Type Confusion Vulnerability
Google Chromium V8 contains a type confusion vulnerability that allows a remote attacker to exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. This vulnerability could affect multiple web browsers that utilize Chromium, including, but not limited to, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera.
A remote attacker, without authentication, can achieve full data confidentiality loss, arbitrary modification of data, complete denial of service or system unavailability. Federal agencies are required to remediate by 2024-09-16 under CISA BOD 22-01.
This is a Type Confusion (CWE-843) vulnerability in Google Chromium V8. Type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 128.0.6613.84 allowed a remote attacker to exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High) Exploitation requires remote network access, low attack complexity, no authentication required, and user interaction required.
