Jenkins Matrix Project Plugin Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Jenkins Matrix Project plugin contains a vulnerability which can allow users to escape the sandbox, opening opportunity to perform remote code execution.
A remote attacker, with a low-privilege account, can achieve full data confidentiality loss, arbitrary modification of data, complete denial of service or system unavailability. Federal agencies are required to remediate by 2022-04-15 under CISA BOD 22-01.
This is a Software Vulnerability (CWE-693) (CWE-693) vulnerability in Jenkins Matrix Project Plugin. A sandbox bypass vulnerability exists in Jenkins Pipeline: Groovy Plugin 2.63 and earlier in pom.xml, src/main/java/org/jenkinsci/plugins/workflow/cps/CpsGroovyShell.java that allows attackers able to control pipeline scripts to execute arbitrary code on the Jenkins master JVM. Exploitation requires remote network access, low attack complexity, a low-privilege authenticated account, and no user interaction required.
