Kibana Arbitrary Code Execution
Kibana contain an arbitrary code execution flaw in the Timelion visualizer.
A remote attacker, without authentication, can achieve full data confidentiality loss, arbitrary modification of data, complete denial of service or system unavailability. Federal agencies are required to remediate by 2022-07-10 under CISA BOD 22-01.
This is a Code Injection (CWE-94) vulnerability in Elastic Kibana. Kibana versions before 5.6.15 and 6.6.1 contain an arbitrary code execution flaw in the Timelion visualizer. An attacker with access to the Timelion application could send a request that will attempt to execute javascript code. This could possibly lead to an attacker executing arbitrary commands with permissions of the Kibana process on the host system. Exploitation requires remote network access, low attack complexity, no authentication required, and no user interaction required.
