Liferay Portal Deserialization of Untrusted Data Vulnerability
Liferay Portal contains a deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability that allows remote attackers to execute code via JSON web services.
A remote attacker, without authentication, can achieve full data confidentiality loss, arbitrary modification of data, complete denial of service or system unavailability. Federal agencies are required to remediate by 2022-05-03 under CISA BOD 22-01.
This is a Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CWE-502) vulnerability in Liferay Liferay Portal. Deserialization of Untrusted Data in Liferay Portal prior to 7.2.1 CE GA2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via JSON web services (JSONWS). Exploitation requires remote network access, low attack complexity, no authentication required, and no user interaction required.
