Why patchRisk explained in plain English
Worst-case scenarioIf unpatched

A remote attacker, with a low-privilege account, can achieve full data confidentiality loss, arbitrary modification of data, complete denial of service or system unavailability. Federal agencies are required to remediate by 2022-05-03 under CISA BOD 22-01.

How the attack worksNo clicks needed

This is a OS Command Injection (CWE-78) vulnerability in Netis WF2419 Devices. Netis WF2419 is vulnerable to authenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) as root through the router Web management page. The vulnerability has been found in firmware version V1.2.31805 and V2.2.36123. After one is connected to this page, it is possible to execute system commands as root through the tracert diagnostic tool because of lack of user input sanitizing. Exploitation requires remote network access, higher attack complexity, a low-privilege authenticated account, and no user interaction required.
