Progress WhatsUp Gold Path Traversal Vulnerability
Progress WhatsUp Gold contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows an unauthenticated attacker to achieve remote code execution.
A remote attacker, without authentication, can achieve full data confidentiality loss, arbitrary modification of data, complete denial of service or system unavailability. Federal agencies are required to remediate by 2025-03-24 under CISA BOD 22-01.
This is a Path Traversal (CWE-22) vulnerability in Progress WhatsUp Gold. In WhatsUp Gold versions released before 2023.1.3, an unauthenticated Remote Code Execution vulnerability in Progress WhatsUpGold. The WhatsUp.ExportUtilities.Export.GetFileWithoutZip allows execution of commands with iisapppool\nmconsole privileges. Exploitation requires remote network access, low attack complexity, no authentication required, and no user interaction required.
